Guappo Hair Design was founded over 20 years ago by Philip Unsworth. Since then Guappo has been cultivated & developed into one of the region’s leading salons, winning northeast salon of the year at the English Hair and Beauty Awards in 2014 & 2015 -  and awarded a 5 star rating by the good salon guide for 3 years in a row.

 

Phil opened Guappo hair design in 1996 when he saw a 'gap' in the local market for a good standard of Hairdressing.

Not just cutting and shaving - Phil broke the mould and textured hair and used advanced cutting and clipper techniques.

 

Phil brought a wealth of experience from his early career in Manchester as a men’s stylist delivering polished tailored style & hot towel shaves. 

He reached the finals of the English hair & Beauty Awards in 2016 for 'Mens stylist of the year'.

Phil went on to win the title of 'Mens Stylist of the Year' in 2017, and won Stylist of the Year at the North East Beauty Industry Awards in 2018. At the same awards - Guappo hair design was nominated for a 5 Star Salon Award for County Durham - and won!
